I’ve come a long way when it comes to the jewelry I wear. I remember the days when I used to slip a glitter-filled chunky bead bracelet over my wrist in seventh grade and feel like I’d ‘made it’ as a fashionista. LOL.
Twelve years later, and my preferences have gravitated towards simple, delicate gold and rose gold pieces, and a few patterned statement earrings.
At first glance, all of these pieces might seem super similar, but to someone like me who only likes one particular type of jewelry, they are all really different haha.
‘Huggies’

This trend is so simple and perfect. ‘Huggies’ are just hoops that hug your earlobe, and my favorite are these ones from Mejuri. Sometimes when I don’t feel like wearing jewelry but I don’t want my ears to feel so naked, I throw on a pair of gold huggies and call it good.

Chunky gold hoops

The first word that comes to mind when I look at these is ‘retro’. I’ve seen so many people on instagram rocking these oversized chunky hoops.
I got these ones from Madewell, and when they first arrived I thought, “Oh. no. I’m never going to wear these.” They felt so over the top, but I styled them with an outfit I thought they’d go well with, and now I reach for them all the time! They may be big, but they’re perfect for the modified 60’s look that I love right now.
Personalized bar necklace

This is honestly one of the only kinds of necklaces I’ve been wearing lately. It sits right below my clavicle, and it’s so dainty. One side says my name and the other has the coordinates to where Tyler and I first met :,)
I have several like this that are not customized, and I feel that I reach for my customized piece to wear much more because it just makes me happy! This piece is from a brand called Nava New York.

Tortoise shell statement earrings

Oh, I’ve hopped on the tortoise shell band wagon and I’ve hopped on it hard. Tortoise shell is probably one of the only trends that I’ll sport in my ear since I’m such a [boring] gold-only gal. It’s such a classy take on statement pieces, and there are so many pretty variations of it as well.
Vintage +funky gold hoops

I’ve seen every shape of gold hoops under the sun and I think it’s safe to say I want them all. My very favorite are actually the ones I find in thrift shops because they’re usually the most fun shapes, like the tear-drop shaped earrings in the far left of this photo. Give me vintage, chunky gold earrings and a dainty gold necklace and I’m your girl.
